Well, with the new V or Visitor show being so good, you know we had to be on top of this costume. For the Ambassador uniform fabric, we went to Joann’s and purchased some navy blue suiting material. The silver was purchased at Sir’s fabric in Fayetteville, TN. Once again, I modified a jacket pattern I already had at home. I had to change the collar and lapel and make the front so it zips up. I did some good guessing for the placement of the silver lines and flaps on the front. All of the silver detailing had to be cut in strips on the bias and pressed so I could finish the edges of the V Ambassador jacket.

For the sleeve and shoulder detail of the V Ambassador jacket, I had to draw up some patterns by hand. I cut out the sleeve detail from the silver fabric and stiffener and sewed them together. Then I attached them to the center of the sleeve. When I cut out the shoulder pieces and sewed them together, I had to center them on the seam line. I did a quick stitch to hold it down so I wouldn’t have to actually do a buttonhole. The silver buttons were some I had lying around. I had to sew them on by hand. And since they were pretty nondescript, I decided they would work well for the first sample of the V Ambassador jacket.

I was not going to make the matching pants at first. I thought it would be a good option though, so you can be a true lizard alien Visitor, or just wear the jacket as an Ambassador. This is the first sample of the fully finished V or Visitor costume. !
